Ruru is the Maori word for Owl and the Morepork is New Zealand’s native nocturnal bird.
In Maori legend the Morepork acted as messengers to the gods in the heavens, winging their way through spiritual paths.
Here the little Morepork look down upon the sleeping world with the glowing moon and Southern Cross in the background.
