BCORP

AIMING HIGH

Our aim is to become BCorp certified. To be guided by the principles of BCorp in all decision making and see it flow through “business as usual” as well as impact projects.

WHAT IS BCORP?

Bcorp is a movement for economic change to support a vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economy. It is a global program working collectively to address society’s challenges.  One that is looking to balance profit with purpose.

Organisations can apply to become BCorp certified and through assessment need to reach 80 points out of a possible 200 points to attain certification. The areas covered in assessment are Governance, Workers, Environment, Community and Customers.

There are more than 4,000 companies worldwide certified as BCorp.

WHY WE WANT TO BECOME BCORP CERTIFIED

BCorp organisations meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

BCorp incorporates many areas of social, environmental and governance responsibility that is all about caring about the space around you, treating people with respect, supporting your community and being a good global citizen to ensure the sustainability of this planet.

This just makes good sense to us and it’s something that already guides our decisions and processes. However by striving to become BCorp certified it gives us a structure and holds us accountable to making sure this happens.

It’s definitely a journey rather than a destination. Even once BCorp certification is gained work continues to further improve processes and the impact our business makes. There is an expectation to continue to improve your point score.

WHERE ARE WE AT IN THE CERTIFICATION PROCESS?

We’ve been through the assessment questions and have an initial score of 51.8 points. With some help from B Lab we’ve identified some areas to work on to gain approximately another 30 points. We’re aiming to achieve this over the next 6-9 months. Once our self-assessment is over 80 points we will apply for BCorp certification.
